Producer James Blake has asked to be removed from the producer credits on Kanye West’s newly released album Bully, specifically the closing track “This One Here.” Blake explained that while some of his original elements remain, the final version differs greatly in spirit from what he created. The move comes amid the rollout of West’s first new LP since 2024.
Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, released Bully on March 29 via YZY and the independent label Gamma. The album arrived after four listening parties and a YouTube live stream, with streaming availability following over the weekend. It features artists including Nine Vicious, Travis Scott, CeeLo Green, André Troutman, Peso Pluma, Don Toliver, and Ty Dolla Sign. Blake is currently listed as a co-writer on “This One Here” alongside Don Toliver, Quentin Miller, and Ye, with prior collaborations between Blake and Ye dating back to a 2015 LP. James Blake shared his position on his direct-to-fan platform Vault. “My original version is a completely different production in spirit,” he wrote. “Happy for the fans but I’ve asked to be taken off the producer credits for now as I don’t want to take credit for other people’s work and this version isn’t what I created with Ye.” Blake emphasized the decision was not personal. “It’s not personal! I just hit a point where don’t want to be credited on music where I can’t affect the end result,” he added. Blake recently released his own album, Trying Times, earlier this month through Good Boy Records.
