Former Formula 1 champion Jenson Button believes Max Verstappen is frustrated at Red Bull and will seek a move to Mercedes next year.
Button spoke on the Sky Sports F1 Show about Verstappen's situation at the team. He noted an exit clause in the driver's contract that could activate at the summer break if Verstappen is not in the top two of the championship.
The 2009 champion said Verstappen sounds frustrated despite putting on a happy face. Button added that many longtime colleagues have left the team, leaving the driver feeling isolated.
Button suggested Verstappen's management should explore options at McLaren or Mercedes. He said the Brackley team, which has won seven of the first nine grands prix in the 2026 season, would be the top choice.
Button stated that Verstappen should be ruthless in securing the best move for his career stage.
