Joe Ryan threw seven scoreless innings as the Minnesota Twins defeated the New York Yankees 6-1 on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. The win marked the Twins' first series victory in the Bronx since 2014.
Byron Buxton left the game in the first inning after reaggravating a right hip injury. He had returned to the lineup on Saturday after missing four games earlier in the week.
Ryan allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out nine batters. Manager Derek Shelton noted Ryan's ability to execute pitches in different parts of the zone.
The Twins collected 12 hits in the contest. Infielder Brooks Lee and first baseman Royce Lewis each recorded multiple hits.
Minnesota has now won six of its past seven series. The club will face the Cleveland Guardians in a three-game set starting Tuesday.
