K-pop demon hunters singers to perform at Bafta awards

Singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, known for voicing characters in Netflix's hit animation KPop Demon Hunters, will perform the film's anthem Golden at the Bafta Film Awards. The performance comes despite the movie's ineligibility for awards due to lacking a theatrical release. The event highlights the film's global impact and the track's record-breaking success.

The EE Bafta Film Awards, set for February 22 at London's Royal Festival Hall, will feature a special performance by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. These artists provide the singing voices for Rumi, Mira and Zoey, members of the fictional band HUNTR/X in Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. Released in June 2025, the animated film has become Netflix's most popular ever, with over 500 million streams worldwide.

The performers expressed excitement in a joint statement: “Performing at the EE Bafta Film Awards is a golden moment that our younger selves could never have imagined! We’re so proud to represent Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters and spread the film’s positive message to fans around the globe.” This marks their first live show outside the United States.

KPop Demon Hunters' soundtrack single Golden has dominated charts in 2026, amassing four billion streams to date. It held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks, becoming the first female K-pop song to top the chart and securing the longest number one run by a female group in the 21st century. Last weekend, it won a Grammy for best song written for visual media, the first for a K-pop track.

Although the film was ruled ineligible for Bafta awards for failing the theatrical release requirement, Bafta's executive director of awards and content, Emma Baehr, welcomed the performance: “KPop Demon Hunters has had a phenomenal impact on the hearts and minds of audiences of all ages around the world since its release last summer and so we are thrilled the talented singers behind HUNTR/X will bring their K-Pop energy to the EE Bafta Film Awards next month. Not only are we here to celebrate exceptional films and the people who make them, we also want to create an unmissable night of entertainment, and we can’t wait to roll out the EE Bafta Film Awards red carpet for such an iconic trio.”

Hosted by Alan Cumming, the ceremony will air as-live on BBC in the UK and on E! in the US.
