Krejcikova credits Czech fans for energy amid fatigue

Barbora Krejcikova defeated compatriot Lucie Havlickova 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the Livesport Prague Open on July 24. The second seed said she would have skipped the event if not for the chance to play before home fans.

Krejcikova admitted feeling tired after the match, which lasted one hour and 46 minutes.

"I feel tired," she said. "If it wasn’t played in the Czech Republic, I wouldn’t play. I’m playing because I want to play here in front of Czech fans."

The 2024 Wimbledon and 2021 Roland Garros champion extended her winning streak to seven matches. She arrived in Prague after claiming her first title in two years in Athens the previous week.

Krejcikova will next face fellow Czech Dominika Salkova, who advanced as a qualifier. She holds an 87.5 percent win rate in the Prague main draw.
