La Florida marks 126 years with free itinerant festival

La Florida commune commemorates its 126th anniversary with a free itinerant art and culture festival touring its neighborhoods throughout November. The event features music, theater, and gastronomy across six sessions. Mayor Daniel Reyes stressed its aim to unite the community in an inclusive celebration.

The La Florida commune, in Chile's Metropolitan Region, marks its 126 years of history with a completely free itinerant festival that will bring cultural activities to various neighborhoods throughout November. Jointly organized by the Corporación Cultural de La Florida and the Corporación Municipal de Fomento al Desarrollo Comunal y Productivo de La Florida (Cofodep), the event includes six presentations ranging from symphonic music to modern electronic rhythms, along with theater and gastronomy.

Mayor Daniel Reyes highlighted the initiative's goal: “We want this anniversary to be a true party for our neighborhoods, where every resident feels part of this history. La Florida is culture, joy, and community, and November will reflect that.” The first session took place at Plaza Lircay, featuring violinist Jeremy Castro and the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Teatro Municipal, directed by maestra Tania Liberona, closing with DJ Atlanthes.

Upcoming activities are scheduled as follows:
- Sunday, November 2: Plaza La Alcaldesa (Los Quillayes con Los Peumos).
- Saturday, November 8: Plaza Los Palos (Las Higueras con Volcán Calbuco).
- Sunday, November 9: José Miguel Carrera con Avenida Uno.
- Saturday, November 22: Parque Alto Macul.
- Sunday, November 23: Grand finale at the Estacionamiento del Estadio Municipal, with music, lights, and family dance.

Additionally, as part of the celebrations, the commune's fourth musical, titled “Errante en las Sombras, veinte años no es nada,” produced by the Corporación Cultural, will premiere on Tuesday, November 25, at the Teatro Municipal, with performances from November 26 to 29 at 8:00 p.m.

Reyes invited the community: “We invite you to enjoy, share with family, and continue celebrating together these 126 years of history. Culture unites us, gives us identity, and reminds us of what we are: a joyful, supportive community full of talent.” This initiative aims to foster local identity and equitable access to culture in the neighborhoods.
