Latvia refuses to face Belarus at U18 World Championship

Latvia has stated it will not play Belarus in the upcoming U18 World Championship even if the teams are matched in the playoffs or a relegation game.

Latvia qualified for the elite division of the tournament next season. The International Ice Hockey Federation decided last Thursday that Belarus is eligible to return to that level despite its involvement in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Latvia opposed the decision from the start.
