Director Lenny Abrahamson, known for Normal People, will start shooting his next film in Dublin on March 2. The untitled project stars Tom Burke, Eve Hewson, and newcomer Shane Meagher, and is set in Dublin's Jewish community in the late 1970s. A24 has acquired US distribution rights.
Lenny Abrahamson, the Oscar-nominated director of Room and the series Normal People, is preparing to shoot his latest film, an untitled drama centered on a 12-year-old boy in Dublin's Jewish community during the late 1970s. The project reunites Abrahamson with producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, a Fremantle company, along with Catherine Magee and Abrahamson himself as producers.
Filming is scheduled to commence in Dublin on March 2, with a creative team including production designer Anna Rackard, director of photography Suzie Lavelle, editor Nathan Nugent, makeup designer Sonia Dolan, composer Stephen Rennicks, costume designer Eimer ní Mhaoldomhnaigh, and hair stylist Orla Carroll, many of whom collaborated on Normal People and Conversations With Friends.
The film stars Tom Burke, recently seen in Black Bag and Furiosa, with credits in The Souvenir and the series Strike; Eve Hewson, known for Flora and Son, The Perfect Couple, and Bad Sisters, and upcoming in Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day; and newcomer Shane Meagher. Funding comes from Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland, and RTÉ. Distribution is handled by A24 in the US, Elevation Pictures in Canada, and FilmNation Entertainment for international sales.
