Defenseman Linus Nässén has signed a one-plus-one contract with HIFK in Helsinki after leaving Timrå in the SHL. The 28-year-old will reunite with head coach Olli Jokinen, who previously worked with him at Jukurit and Timrå.
Nässén confirmed the move on the club's website after agreeing to terms this week. He cited positive impressions of the organization and the city as key factors in his decision.
Jokinen praised Nässén's ability to handle responsibility in all situations and highlighted his experience winning the Swedish championship with Växjö. The coach expects him to become a leading defenseman who uses his puck skills effectively.
Nässén will join former Timrå teammates Tim Juel and Lukas Pilö at HIFK, along with goaltender Hugo Alnefelt. The contract includes an option to play abroad after the upcoming season.
