Matt Damon said he received no special treatment while filming The Odyssey alongside other major stars. The actor described how everyone faced the same challenging conditions during production.
Damon told People that the cast and crew endured identical hardships on the Christopher Nolan-directed film. “If you’re out on a boat in the middle of the ocean and you get caught in a storm, you get wet with everybody else,” he said. “Nobody’s getting a hot beverage that you’re not getting.”
He added that the shared experience created a strong bond among participants. “So that made it feel like we were really all in it together, because we were,” Damon noted. “I do feel really bonded with everybody who was on that movie, cast and crew, because it was so challenging for everyone.”
The adaptation of Homer’s epic stars Damon as Odysseus and features an ensemble including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and others. It is set to hit theaters on July 17.
