Matteo Berrettini was filmed dancing during a set by South Korean DJ Peggy Gou at a nightclub in Ibiza. The 30-year-old Italian has been dealing with chronic hip pain that forced him to withdraw from recent tournaments.
The video emerged this week and showed Berrettini enjoying time off the court. He has faced repeated injury setbacks, including a hip issue that ended his run at Roland Garros in June.
Berrettini retired from that quarterfinal against Matteo Arnaldi while leading 7-5, 5-2. He later explained the decision in a press conference.
“I’m the last one that wants to retire. I’m tired of retiring. I just don’t want to do it, but sometimes you have to do it,” he said on June 3.
After Wimbledon, where he reached the third round, a medical exam confirmed ongoing hip pain. Berrettini withdrew from Gstaad and Kitzbühel to rest ahead of the North American hard-court swing. He holds a 15-11 record in 2026 and has returned to the top 50.
