The 2025 news photo exhibition, looking back on the year's events, opened at the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store in Tokyo's Ginza district on Saturday. Organized by the Tokyo Press Photographers Association, it displays about 300 news photographs, including the association's Grand Prix-winning piece and images from various events and incidents.
The Tokyo Press Photographers Association, comprising 33 companies including newspapers, news agencies, and broadcasters, organized the event. This year's exhibition has moved from the previous venue at the Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store in Tokyo's Nihombashi district to Ginza Mitsukoshi.
At the opening ceremony, comedian Kanade from the comedy trio “San-ji no Heroine” (3 o’clock heroine) made an appearance. Standing before the award-winning photo in the culture and entertainment category, which depicted her alongside sumo stablemaster Sendagawa and former makuuchi division wrestler Tokushoryu, she smiled and said, “We make such a pair, don’t we?”
The exhibition will run through January 5 but will be closed on New Year’s Day. Admission is free.
This showcase compiles visual highlights of 2025's societal events and cultural moments for visitors.
