Nick Jonas releases 'Gut Punch' single from upcoming album Sunday Best

Following its announcement last month, Nick Jonas has released his solo single 'Gut Punch' on January 1, 2026, with a lyric video on YouTube. The introspective track about self-criticism and growth leads his first solo album in five years, *Sunday Best*, due February 6.

Nick Jonas dropped “Gut Punch” on New Year’s Day, marking the lead single from his upcoming solo album Sunday Best (Republic Records, February 6). The moody ballad, first previewed at his Sunday Best Brunch in Toronto and during Jonas Brothers tour dates, explores personal themes of self-doubt, fatherhood, and marriage.

Jonas posted on Instagram: “Gut Punch is out now everywhere. Couldn’t ask for a better way to ring in the new year than hearing these lyrics that mean so much to me being sung back. Here’s to being kinder to ourselves in 2026. Thank you. Love you.” Key lyrics include: “Hit me like a gut punch/ I hurt my own feelings/ How did I get so good at being mean to myself?”

In a statement, Jonas reflected: “I tend to be hyper critical of myself... Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father? ... It’s important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.”

The track debuted live mid-December at Toronto's Sunday Best Brunch with brother Franklin Jonas and JP Saxe, and during the Jonas Brothers’ Jonas20 tour (August–December 2025). Meanwhile, the brothers performed a New Year's Eve show at Florida’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, livestreamed on Samsung TV Plus.
