Event horse Night Prowler was photographed taking a floral snack while competing at the Defender Bramham Horse Trials CCI4*-L last weekend. The 11-year-old gelding, known as Weasel, cleared the cross-country course but was later eliminated for jumping the wrong part of a fence.
Yvette Wheeler, who owns the Irish-bred horse, said the pictures captured Weasel's cheeky personality perfectly. She noted that rider Jack Mantel and groom David laughed upon seeing the images after an initial disappointment.
The pair had completed their first CCI4*-L and cleared every jump. However, the horse jumped a six-foot middle section of fence 18abc instead of the intended route, leading to technical elimination.
Mantel described the round as bold and said the horse remained unaware of the issue. He added that Weasel is brave and improving rapidly at higher levels.
Wheeler said the horse has significant character and is known quickly at events. The fence was later removed due to ground conditions, though Weasel had no trouble with it.
