Noah Kahan's 'Out of Body' documentary set for Netflix premiere

Noah Kahan's documentary 'Out of Body' will premiere on Netflix on April 13. The film captures his return to Vermont after major shows supporting his 2022 album Stick Season. Kahan describes the project as revealing more about himself than he anticipated.

Noah Kahan announced that his documentary Out of Body, directed by Nick Sweeney, premieres on Netflix on April 13. The film documents Kahan over a year and a half, following his return home to Vermont after touring for his breakthrough 2022 album Stick Season. Kahan shared on social media that the experience of being filmed was “weird, difficult, and genuinely beautiful.” He noted it provides an intimate look at his “creative journey” and family, though “it’s personal and some things I touch on are painful to think about and be reminded of.” Despite nerves, Kahan believes “anything scary or hard is usually worth sharing with the world. Maybe it will reach one of you in a time when you need it. Maybe you’ll see some of your own family in mine. Either way, I hope you love it.” He first revealed the project last summer, saying it “captures so much more than I ever thought the world would see about myself.” Sweeney told Netflix’s Tudum that Kahan was “determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits.” The director described Kahan during this period as being “in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage,” capturing “moments that were thrilling, terrifying, [and] hilarious, often all at once.” The documentary arrives ahead of Kahan’s new album The Great Divide, set for release on April 24, with singles including the title track and “Porch Light” already out.
