In a heartfelt event in Lagos, the Oyetty Foundation celebrated its third anniversary by extending crucial support to parents of children with special needs. The organization presented a Suzuki Mini Bus to Mr. Adenrele Onipede, a parent associated with Modupe Cole Special School in Akoka, alongside business assistance for 25 other parents. This gesture elicited strong emotional responses from attendees, highlighting the relief it brings to families grappling with mobility and caregiving demands.
Mrs. Oyetola Akande, the foundation's founder, addressed the gathering, reflecting on the group's growth and expanding impact. 'We have supported many parents in ways that help them rebuild their lives,' she stated. Akande noted that beneficiaries have launched businesses, resumed education, or found employment. The foundation's core mission, she explained, is to empower parents caring for children with mental and developmental conditions. She urged attendees to embrace their children with love and patience, stressing that effective caregiving starts with self-care.
Mrs. Oluwatomi Alakija, presenting the annual scorecard, reported that more than 25 parents received direct aid in the past year, with over 60 families benefiting since the foundation began. This includes business support valued at over ₦79 million to help sustain livelihoods. Mr. Olusegun Akande, the founder's husband, praised the team's compassion and dedication, calling for continued excellence.
Team member Isola Oladimeji thanked partner schools, parents, and teachers for their resilience in fostering children's development. Beneficiary Mrs. Adeosun Anike shared a moving testimony, describing the foundation's aid as transformative after facing severe hardships.
