Paola Muñoz and Francisco Kotsakis to lead Gran Fondo Curacaví 2026

Olympic cyclist Paola Muñoz and former national champion Francisco Kotsakis will lead the fifth edition of Gran Fondo Curacaví this Sunday. The race will feature a new 130-kilometer route starting and finishing at Fundo El Molino, expecting 600 participants. The event establishes itself as one of Chile's top amateur cycling races.

Gran Fondo Curacaví marks its fifth edition this Sunday with a star-studded peloton led by Paola Muñoz, winner of the 2024 edition, and Francisco Kotsakis, third place that year and former national road champion. Organized by Epic Rides, the race anticipates 600 cyclists on a new 130-kilometer course retaining iconic sections like the climb to El Pangue and Cuesta Ibacache.

The men's field includes Tomás Quiroz, 2023 under-23 national road champion and runner-up in 2025; Gonzalo Eguiguren, winner of Tour de Los Ríos 2023; Cristóbal Mena, with experience from Vuelta a Portugal del Futuro 2023; national team member Diego Gutiérrez; and Matías Silva, second in Gran Fondo Matanzas 2025.

In the women's category, alongside Muñoz are Paulina Chacón, runner-up in Giro del Lago 2025, and Francisca Garrido, champion of Gran Fondo Nevados de Chillán 2025.

Epic Rides CEO Fernando Almuna highlighted the event's growth: “Reaching a fifth edition with this level of riders speaks to the real growth the race has had”. Race director Víctor Garrido detailed improvements: “El Pangue and Ibacache will remain key points”. Paola Muñoz noted: “It benefits cycling by strengthening the calendar".

The event has support from the Santiago Regional Government and Curacaví Municipality, plus sponsors including BMC, SRAM, and Gatorade.
