Pietreczko eliminated in darts European Championship quarterfinals by Noppert

Ricardo Pietreczko became the last German to be eliminated at the home European Darts Championship. In the quarterfinals, the 31-year-old lost 5:10 to Dutch player Danny Noppert. The title went to Gian van Veen from the Netherlands.

The Darts European Championship at Dortmund's Westfalenhalle ended in disappointment for the German participants. Ricardo Pietreczko, the last German remaining in the tournament, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Danny Noppert from the Netherlands. After two prior wins, the 31-year-old lost decisively 5:10.

The other German players had already been knocked out earlier. Germany's number one, Martin Schindler, exited in the second round, while Niko Springer failed at the opening stage.

In the later stages, Dutch player Gian van Veen claimed the title. He defeated his compatriot Michael van Gerwen in the semifinals. In the final, he narrowly prevailed 11:10 against world number one Luke Humphries from England. Humphries had previously beaten Noppert, Pietreczko's conqueror.

The event took place at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, serving as the home European Championship for the German darts players, who ultimately achieved no major success.
