Punk bands from five Asian countries unite for World Wide Fam in Korea

Punk bands from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan are gathering in Korea for the seventh World Wide Fam event hosted by Victim Records. The tour spans three cities from Friday in Cheongju to Sunday in Seoul, supporting local scenes. KrankyDoodle frontman Razmy Mohamed said the music connects them like family.

Victim Records launched the World Wide Fam concert series in 2024, and its seventh edition brings bands from five Asian countries to Korea. Participants include Singapore's KrankyDoodle (KD), Malaysia's Jemson, Indonesia's The Pandan Wangi, and Japan's Dont Turn Away and Gekko Wataru.

KrankyDoodle frontman Razmy Mohamed and Victim Records owner Yoon Ki-sun led the planning. Yoon told The Korea Times they aimed to introduce great bands from various countries to Korean audiences, expanding beyond the initial two or three acts. Mohamed noted that despite different languages, the music translates instantly on stage.

The tour kicks off Friday at Cheongju's Roadking venue at 10 p.m. (free entry, with local act Jackieboy), moves to Gwangju's Club Boojik on Saturday at 5 p.m. (20,000 won, joined by Monkey Pee Quartet, TwoFive, and Dirty Rockhon), and concludes Sunday at 2 p.m. at Seoul's Club Victim (30,000 won, featuring Sato Yukie and Korean bands like A Lone Wolf Elegy Club, Punk on Fire, and others). Dont Turn Away performs separately Friday at Anyang's Purple Hall and Saturday at Seoul's Freebird.

Yoon emphasized supporting scenes outside Seoul, designating Gwangju as the main show. Mohamed described Korea as a second home, tied to their label's base, and a place to reconnect with the community. Follow @victimrecords on Instagram for updates.
