Juan Fernando Quintero stated he is not a priority for coach Eduardo Coudet and cast doubt on his future at River Plate.
The Colombian midfielder, captain of the Millonario and participant in the 2026 World Cup with Colombia, did not report to training this week.
Quintero received club permission until July 30 to handle personal matters in Medellín. He trained on his own in Miami after River’s Copa Argentina loss to Aldosivi.
“If I had been a priority, I would have been there on the second day,” Quintero said. He added that he has not spoken with Coudet since leaving and is seeking the best situation for himself and the club.
The player is under contract until December 31, 2027, and will miss at least the first two Torneo Clausura 2026 matches against Barracas Central and Gimnasia de La Plata.
