The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting raids in France and other countries on suspicions of misuse of European funds by the former Identity and Democracy group, where the Rassemblement National sat.
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday that investigative measures were underway in France, Spain, Italy and Belgium. The probe concerns the use of European funds by the former political group in the European Parliament between 2019 and 2024.
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office had announced in July 2025 the opening of an investigation into the ID group, suspected of having unduly spent more than 4.3 million euros. The raids target in particular the headquarters and homes of communication providers who worked with the group.
Jordan Bardella, president of the RN, stated on X that the operations had begun early in the morning. He added that these procedures added to other judicial cases affecting the party, including a decision expected on July 7 regarding Marine Le Pen’s ineligibility.
