Rassemblement national mocks tenth anniversary of November 13 attacks

Several Rassemblement National (RN) elected officials mocked the inauguration ceremony of the Jardin du 13-Novembre-2015 in Paris, marking the tenth anniversary of the 2015 attacks. Their jibes particularly targeted a song performed by a choir of survivors and victims' families. Jordan Bardella described the lack of invitation to party leaders as 'inelegant'.

The homage ceremony for the victims of November 13 took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, ten years after the terrorist attacks that struck Paris and Saint-Denis, killing 130 people. Organized by Paris City Hall, it featured the inauguration of a commemorative garden in the heart of the capital, with two hours of tributes, speeches, and songs.

Party presidents were not invited, unlike Parisian elected officials and representatives from the National Assembly and Senate. Hidalgo's team justified not specifically inviting Jordan Bardella by citing his speech that same day in Brussels, where he described a 'rooted Islamism' in France with 'zealous spokespersons on the far left'.

Unable to attend, the RN derided the event. Marine Le Pen had published a video hours earlier, speaking of a 'flesh-and-blood fraternal bond' with the victims. Several party elected officials mocked the choir of survivors and victims' families, which closed the ceremony by performing 'Shooting Stars' by Rival Sons, with the lyrics 'my love is stronger than your hate'.

These jibes have been labeled inelegant, highlighting political tensions surrounding this sensitive commemoration.
