Riot clarifies valorant vanguard update does not brick pcs

Riot Games has updated its Vanguard anti-cheat software in Valorant to disable DMA cheating tools. The company tweeted about the change and later clarified that it does not damage hardware or software.

Riot Games pushed an update to Vanguard that detects and disables DMA tools used for cheating in Valorant. The update works even when Riot games are not running or installed. On May 21, 2026, the company posted a tweet showing disabled DMA cards and calling them $6k paperweights.
