Seven in ten Colombians to join Halloween celebrations this year

A Fenalco survey shows that 73% of Colombians are gearing up to celebrate Halloween this Friday. Many plan to dress up with their children and spend on costumes and sweets. The occasion boosts commerce and family cheer.

A Fenalco survey indicates that around 73% of Colombians are preparing to celebrate Halloween this Friday. Of these, 40% of people will dress up themselves along with their children. Half of the respondents plan to celebrate with their kids, while 17% will do so with work colleagues or their partner.

Regarding spending on costumes, 44% of Colombians allocate between $100,000 and $200,000, followed by 23% who spend less than $100,000. The 20% of the population plans to spend more than $200,000 on their outfit for the event. For choosing costumes, 43% draw inspiration from the internet, 31% from stores, and 30% from social networks.

Favorite activities include trick-or-treating with children (26%), visiting shopping malls (24%), attending costume parties (19%), and going to nightclubs (9%). Top consumer desires are original and quality costumes (28%), themed sweets and chocolates (25%), and home decorations (20%).

"The Children's Day or Halloween is a key date for Colombian commerce, not only for the increase in sales, but for the dynamism and joy it generates in families," stated Jaime Alberto Cabal, president of Fenalco. The survey highlights the growing enthusiasm for the celebration in the country, boosting the commercial sector.
