Bay Area duo Sour Widows will release their second album, Sigil, on October 23 via Julia’s War. The record was produced by Melina Duterte, known as Jay Som.
The lead single, “Blood in the Grass,” was written by band member Susanna Thomson for Maya Bon of Babehoven. It is accompanied by a found footage-style video directed by Thomson and bandmate Maia Sinaiko.
Thomson described the track in a statement as being about fate, creating family, and finding refuge in one another during times of pain. The song draws on themes of vulnerability in the natural world.
Sour Widows released their debut album, Revival of a Friend, in 2024. This fall they will tour North America with Squirrel Flower in support of the new record, beginning October 23 in St. Louis.
