Steve Hackett announces 2026 world tour featuring Genesis material

Guitarist Steve Hackett, former member of Genesis, has confirmed dates for a 2026 world tour that will spotlight best-of Genesis songs alongside his solo favorites. The tour comes as other Genesis members have stepped back from performing the band's progressive rock era material. Tickets are available now through Hackett's official website.

Steve Hackett, who served as guitarist and songwriter for Genesis from 1971 to 1977, is set to embark on a comprehensive world tour in 2026. With Phil Collins retired from touring, Mike Rutherford's recent Mike + the Mechanics shows featuring only a few post-mid-1980s Genesis songs, and Peter Gabriel performing none, Hackett remains the primary torchbearer for the band's earlier, proggier catalog.

Hackett joined Genesis prior to the 1971 album Nursery Cryme and contributed to four consecutive gold-selling albums, including the 1973 highlight Selling England by the Pound. He has described this period as a "golden era." Recent tours have focused on specific albums: 2025 dates commemorating The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, a 2023 tour on Foxtrot, and a 2017 celebration of Wind & Wuthering. The upcoming shows will offer a broader best-of-Genesis format with some solo gems.

Reflecting on his departure from the band, Hackett noted the core trio of Collins, Rutherford, and Tony Banks had become "a little bit too much of a closed shop." He recalled, "I agonized over leaving the band for a good two years," but added, "there's no doubt that I made the right decision."

The tour spans multiple continents: U.S. dates in February and March at venues like Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Au-Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale; a March appearance on Cruise to the Edge from Miami; South American stops in March, including Mexico City and Buenos Aires; European shows in May and June across France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands; U.K. performances in October at halls like Royal Albert Hall in London; and additional European dates in November in Italy.

This global outing underscores Hackett's ongoing commitment to Genesis's influential progressive rock legacy.
