A walker discovered the body of a 39-year-old woman in a car on a field path in Bad Rappenau in the morning. Hours later, federal police arrested a 41-year-old suspect in Regensburg.
Police determined that the victim and the suspect had a prior relationship. Due to the discovery site in the trunk of a black Mercedes between the districts of Fürfeld and Bonfeld, suspicion of homicide arose early.
The Criminal Police Directorate Heilbronn established a special commission named Soko Stern. Around 50 officers investigated the case. The area was cordoned off extensively and forensic teams were deployed.
The 41-year-old remains under strong suspicion. Further details on the possible motive were not released initially. Road traffic was not affected by the closure.
