Suspect detained in kidnapping of journalist Roxana Guzmán in Veracruz

José del Carmen “N”, alias “Delta 7”, was detained on June 26 in Coatzacoalcos for the kidnapping of journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán, which occurred on June 2 in Nanchital.

The Secretaría de Marina reported that the detention was carried out in coordination with the Fiscalía de Veracruz. The detainee indicated the location where the journalist would have been murdered, although relatives posted on social media that authorities have not yet confirmed the location of their family member.

Four municipal police officers from Ixhuatlán del Sureste and a woman identified as Karen “N” were also detained in related operations. Guzmán’s family went to the Fiscalía General de la República in Coatzacoalcos to provide DNA samples.

Roxana Guzmán was director of the Pulso Informativo del Sureste portal. President Claudia Sheinbaum noted that the Security Cabinet is handling the case.
