Sweden to face Switzerland in world championship quarterfinal

Tre Kronor secured a quarterfinal spot after beating Slovakia. Switzerland became the opponent after defeating Finland.

Sweden won 4–2 against Slovakia in the decisive group stage match in Fribourg. Goal scorers were Anton Frondell, Jakob Silfverberg, Ivar Stenberg and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Switzerland topped group A after a 4–2 win over Finland. Ken Jäger decided the game late.

The quarterfinal between Switzerland and Sweden starts at 20.20 on Thursday in Zürich. Head coach Sam Hallam highlighted the team's fighting spirit ahead of the match.

Hade vi mött Finland hade vi inte haft en chans. Mot Schweiz har vi åtminstone en liiiiten chans.

Sweden has a two-goal lead against Slovakia and USA has a three-goal lead against Austria. I think both countries will win. USA will face Canada in the quarterfinals. If Finland beats Switzerland tonight, Finland will have to play Sweden in the quarterfinals. 😱

Allt pekar mot att Tre Kronor blir 2a, 3a eller 4a i gruppen. Får möta troligtvis Finland, Schweiz eller USA i kvartsfinal. Har väldigt svårt att se detta svaga Tre Kronor ta sig förbi kvarten i detta VM.
