Tesla hosts first event in Harker Heights

Tesla held its inaugural showcase in Harker Heights on December 5, 2025, displaying various models and offering test drives at the Training Center of Central Texas. The event highlighted self-driving features and potential partnerships for career training. Local leaders and advisors emphasized opportunities for education and community engagement.

On December 5, 2025, Tesla made its debut in Harker Heights at the Training Center of Central Texas, located at 455 E. Central Texas Expressway. The event ran from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring displays of Cybertrucks alongside Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles. Attendees had chances for test rides and sessions on the cars' advanced capabilities, including supervised maneuvers like lane changes, parking, route navigation, and steering.

Jerica Delos Santos, a senior Tesla advisor, noted this was the company's first time bringing vehicles to Harker Heights for such demonstrations. Many participants were unfamiliar with the full self-driving technology, she said. "Most of them haven’t experienced it. It’s a good way for them to learn more about it."

The gathering also boosted Tesla's local visibility. Delos Santos indicated openness to future visits and collaborations with area businesses. "We are always open to showcasing our vehicles," she added.

Reginald Hodges, CEO of the Training Center, described the occasion as part of an emerging partnership. He highlighted plans for 2026 to introduce certifications in Battery Energy Storage Systems, creating job prospects for students. The center already works with Sungrow, the second-largest battery system user, and aims to align with Tesla, the top user, for enhanced training and employment links.

To support expanded programs, the facility is moving to a larger site on Mountain Lion Road, adding 13,000 square feet and seven classrooms. During the event, students attended classes and learned from Tesla staff about career options. "This event was about more than technology — it was about showing our students what’s possible and building real career pathways with companies like Tesla," Hodges stated.

A tent offered question-and-answer sessions, with refreshments and giveaways drawing families. Organizers anticipated over 150 visitors to the family-oriented affair.
