Hamster has announced Touchdown Fever as the latest addition to the Arcade Archives series on Nintendo Switch, set for release tomorrow. The 1987 SNK sports game focuses on American football with simple controls. It will be available digitally for $7.99, compatible with Switch 2 via backwards compatibility.

Hamster confirmed on January 7 that Touchdown Fever will launch as this week's Arcade Archives title on Nintendo Switch, arriving on January 8. Originally released by SNK in 1987, the game is a sports simulation centered on American football. Its straightforward mechanics emphasize tapping buttons to advance, allowing players to experience the sport's pace without complex strategies.

An official description highlights: "Touchdown Fever is a sports game released by SNK in 1987. Tap the buttons to push forward – simple controls make it easy to enjoy the flow of American football. With over a hundred formations selected automatically, even beginners unfamiliar with detailed tactics can relax and enjoy the game."

The Arcade Archives series recreates classic arcade experiences, offering options to adjust difficulty and display settings to mimic original machines. Players can also submit high scores for global competition. A trailer showcases the gameplay, underscoring its nostalgic appeal.

While there is no native version for Nintendo Switch 2, the title supports backwards compatibility on the console. It will be sold digitally for $7.99 through the Nintendo eShop. This release continues Hamster's efforts to revive vintage arcade games for modern audiences.
