A truck loaded with 18 pallets of spirits caught fire on the E20 in Kungsör at 17:30 on Tuesday, causing a complete road closure. Fire services extinguished the initial blaze, but smoke production was enormous. No injuries were reported.
A truck loaded with 18 pallets of spirits developed a full-blown fire on the E20 heading toward Eskilstuna in Kungsör at 17:30 on Tuesday. Fire services were alerted to the scene following reports of the blaze.
"We got a call that it was burning and when we arrive it's a fully developed fire. The initial fire is extinguished but there's enormous smoke development," said Oscar Davila, operations officer at the rescue service.
The road was initially completely closed in both directions during the rescue operation. By 21:00, traffic remained stopped in the westbound direction, while the eastbound lane was open. According to Trafikverket's forecast, work at the site is expected to continue until 01:00.
There are no reports of any injuries related to the fire. The incident caused significant disruptions on the heavily trafficked E20 stretch through Västmanland.
