Led by 17-year-old Bayern shooting star Lennart Karl, the German U21 team celebrated its next win in EM qualification. Before 2,929 spectators in Tiflis, the team beat the deep-lying hosts 2-0 (1-0). Karl initiated the goal and scored in the 45.+2 minute with his weaker left foot for 1-0. It was his third goal in just his second U21 international.
Nicolo Tresoldi from FC Brugge then made it 2-0 in the 58th minute. His long-range shot was slightly deflected. Coach Antonio Di Salvo's side was clearly superior but initially struggled in front of goal.
