Plowing of the popular Vildmarksvägen between Västerbotten and Jämtland has begun earlier than usual. This year, snow drifts measure between three and four meters high and are exceptionally hard. Bertil Fjällström, who is clearing the road, describes the snow as rock-hard.
Plowing of Vildmarksvägen is now underway at full speed. The road, linking Västerbotten and Jämtland, is typically cleared by late April. This year, work started last week and has since intensified.
Bertil Fjällström, responsible for the snow clearance, said: "It’s rock-hard." He added: "The snow is hard. But now we’re going at full speed."
Snow drifts this year reach three to four meters, not a record but challenging due to the snow’s hardness. The plowing team is working intensively to open the scenic route for traffic.
