Water supply cuts affect five Mexico City boroughs

Mexico City's government announced temporary water supply cuts in at least five boroughs due to maintenance work on the hydraulic network. These interruptions aim to improve infrastructure but affect various neighborhoods until Saturday, November 29. Residents can request water trucks via the H2O Line.

The Secretariat of Integral Water and Drainage Management (SEGIAGUA) reported that the water supply cuts stem from maintenance work started last week in boroughs like Benito Juárez and Miguel Hidalgo. These efforts will continue over the next two days, primarily impacting Xochimilco, Tláhuac, Cuajimalpa, Gustavo A. Madero, and Iztapalapa.

In Xochimilco, a 12-inch valve will be replaced at Escudo Nacional street corner Altavista, in the Olivar Santa María neighborhood of Tulyehualco, Tláhuac. This will suspend the R-11 and Escudo Nacional 2 water treatment plants from 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, affecting neighborhoods such as Olivar Santa María, San Felipe, Nativitas, and Centro de Tulyehualco. Service is expected to resume at 3:00 p.m. the same day.

In Tláhuac, maintenance at the La Caldera Water Treatment Plant began on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., affecting the Santa Catarina Yecahuizotl town. Initially set to end Thursday, the work has been extended until Saturday, November 29, at 7:00 p.m., per SEGIAGUA's latest update.

Cuajimalpa will experience interruptions across the entire borough due to maintenance at the El Cartero pumping plant, starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday and resuming around 5:00 a.m. Saturday.

In Gustavo A. Madero, work on the GM5 tank affected neighborhoods like Arboledas, Palmatitla, and Casilda, but was completed this morning, allowing earlier restoration than the planned 8:00 p.m. Friday.

In Iztapalapa, pipe replacement on Prof. Otilio Montaño street in the Zona Urbana Ejidal Santa María Aztahuacan began Thursday, November 27, at 8:00 a.m., with service expected by 8:00 p.m. Friday, impacting Santa María Aztahuacan town and the ejidal zone.

Under Head of Government Clara Brugada's administration, affected residents are urged to call the H2O Line at *426 for water trucks if needed. These maintenances are vital for the capital's water system's efficiency.
