Wilmer Skoog signs one-year contract with Detroit Red Wings

Swedish forward Wilmer Skoog has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with the Detroit Red Wings. The 26-year-old moves from the Florida Panthers organization after a strong AHL season.

Skoog made his NHL debut last winter with Florida, appearing in three games and recording two assists. He spent the 2025-26 season primarily with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL, where he posted 18 goals and 37 points in 61 games.

The Stockholm native left Sweden as a teenager and played junior hockey before attending Boston University. Several SHL clubs, including Djurgården, had shown interest in bringing him back to Sweden.

Detroit also signed forward Viktor Arvidsson earlier on July 1. Skoog's new contract keeps him in North America for another season.
