اقترحت المفوضية الأوروبية قانون تسريع الصناعة، وهو مبادرة رئيسية بعنوان "صنع في الاتحاد الأوروبي" من شأنها ربط أجزاء من المشتريات العامة وأنظمة الدعم بمتطلبات المحتوى المحلي وانخفاض الكربون في قطاعات استراتيجية مختارة. وقد انتقدت وزارة التجارة الصينية الخطة ووصفتها بالتمييزية وحذرت من أنها قد ترد إذا تضررت مصالح الشركات الصينية.
