The Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais approved in the second round a bill that sets a ceiling on payments to artists hired with state resources.
The text sets a limit of R$ 700 thousand per performance for contracts funded by the Government of Minas. For events held by municipalities with state funds, the ceiling is R$ 500 thousand, provided it does not exceed 1% of the municipality's net current revenue.
Expenses for lodging and transport are capped at R$ 150 thousand per presentation. Contracts must be disclosed in advance on the Transparency Portal and events must include participation by local artists.
The proposal now goes to Governor Mateus Simões (PSD) for sanction. Non-compliance may bar those responsible from receiving new state resources.
