National Army troops seized 32 kilograms of marijuana in the El Dinde rural area of La Plata, Huila. The operation was triggered by a citizen alert, leading a suspect to flee and abandon the drugs.
In western Huila, units from the No. 26 Cacique Pigoanza Light Infantry Battalion, attached to the Ninth Brigade, with support from the No. 11 Light Cavalry Group and coordination with the National Police's Sijín, set up a checkpoint in the El Dinde vereda.
The operation stemmed from information provided by the Civic Participation Network about a suspicious individual. Upon spotting the authorities, the person fled, abandoning a tarp by the roadside, which upon inspection contained a pressed vegetable substance matching 32 kilograms of marijuana.
The soldiers secured the area, informed their superiors, and with Sijín, began urgent procedures for judicializing the material. Officials noted that the seizure prevents the drug's circulation and impacts the illicit economies of drug trafficking and microtrafficking structures in the Huila region.
