The Inter-American Development Bank denied allocating US$60 million for the transition process of the incoming government of Abelardo de la Espriella, but confirmed a technical cooperation platform of US$63 million.
The BID responded to a petition from Caracol Radio clarifying that it has not allocated new resources to finance the transition with the outgoing government. In a letter signed by its representative in Colombia, Ramiro López-Ghio, the entity specified that the US$63 million correspond to existing technical cooperation operations.
Elected vice president José Manuel Restrepo explained that the conversation between de la Espriella and BID president Ilan Goldfajn established a work route to support the formulation of the National Development Plan and strategic projects. These resources are non-reimbursable and will not increase Colombia's external debt.
Starting July 29 a technical mission led by Anabel González, BID vice president of Countries and Regional Integration, will begin to structure the operations together with delegates from the elected government. Goldfajn stated that this cooperation seeks to allow Colombia to act from day one without losing time.
