The Bihar Cabinet has approved carving out the Lord Vaman Temple from the Buxar Central Jail premises to allow public access and development.
On Wednesday the Cabinet sanctioned the segregation of 1 acre and 90 decimals of land measuring 600 feet by 138 feet from the 19th-century prison complex.
A 14-ft-high boundary wall with barbed wire will be built on three sides to maintain security for the jail which houses over 1,000 prisoners.
Earlier this year then Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary had announced during the Samriddhi Yatra that the temple would soon be opened to devotees.
