Bodies of two Singaporean climbers found on Mount Dukono

Rescue teams found the bodies of two Singaporean climbers missing after the Mount Dukono eruption on Sunday.

The two victims were found at 13:00 WIT at coordinates 1°42'9.90"N / 127°52'48.50"E. They were in a hugging position and trapped under a large rock due to the eruption.

The victims were named Heng and Sha, both Singaporean nationals. An Indonesian victim named Angel had previously been found dead.

Rescue teams evacuated the bodies to the main post in Mamuya village at 17:43 WIT and then to RSUD Tobelo for autopsy. The SAR operation was closed after all victims were recovered.

Fifteen other climbers were rescued. The first emergency signal was received on May 8, 2026.
