Pop star Britney Spears was arrested for driving under the influence in California in March after police pulled her over for erratic driving. She later pleaded guilty to reckless driving and received probation.
Britney Spears was stopped by California Highway Patrol on U.S. 101 after officers observed her drifting between lanes and speeding. She took 15 seconds to pull over and argued with police for about 10 minutes before exiting the vehicle, according to an investigation report and dashboard camera footage reviewed by CBS News. Officers noted the smell of alcohol and later found a wine glass and an unprescribed bottle of Adderall in the car. Spears told police she had consumed a mimosa six hours earlier and denied feeling intoxicated. Breathalyzer tests showed levels of 0.06% and 0.05%. She was released the next morning and pleaded guilty to reckless driving earlier this month, resulting in 12 months of probation. Spears voluntarily entered rehab in April. A representative described the incident as unfortunate and completely inexcusable.
