BSMI gives appreciation to two journalists arrested by Israel

The Indonesian Red Crescent gave appreciation to two Republika journalists who were once arrested by Israeli soldiers during a humanitarian mission.

The 24th anniversary event of BSMI was held in Jakarta on Sunday July 12 2026. Two journalists Bambang Noroyono known as Abeng and Thoudy Badai received appreciation for joining the Global Sumud Flotilla mission.

Abeng said, 'Do not stop until Palestine is independent.' Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdul Fatah A.K. Al-Sattiri stated the activists knew the risk of arrest but still carried out the mission.

Chairman of the BSMI Advisory Council Prof Dr dr Basuki Supartono SpOT affirmed that humanity knows no national borders. He also recalled that BSMI was founded in 2002 at Al-Azhar Mosque in Jakarta.
