The Commission on Population and Development urged proactive policies to support children and youth during a forum held in Mandaluyong.
The Commission on Population and Development said investments during a child’s formative years play an important role in shaping the future of the Filipino youth. It called for more proactive public policies concerning children’s development.
CPD deputy executive director Lolito Tacardon spoke at the Youth Aspiration Forum at Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong. The event was organized with partner agencies in observance of World Population Day.
Tacardon stated that investments made in early childhood strengthen outcomes in adolescence. He added that positive adolescent experiences create better opportunities in adulthood.
He noted that financial constraints, mental health concerns, and other factors can narrow opportunities for young people. Tacardon urged government colleagues, educators, and civil society to invest in the youth as a strategic move for the country’s future.
