Following the June 22 shooting in Tacloban, the PNP ordered information campaigns against bullying and to boost online safety.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed all Women and Children Protection Desks to intensify campaigns on violence against children in coordination with schools and local stakeholders.
He also ordered the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to conduct lectures on online safety for students, teachers and school personnel. He said law enforcement has an important role in prevention, protection and partnership with educators and parents.
The move came after two suspects aged 14 and 15 opened fire inside San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22, killing three students and injuring 20 others. The PNP supported DepEd’s proposal to increase the number of guidance counselors.
