Harry Kane scored twice as England came from behind to defeat DR Congo 2-1 in Atlanta and advance to the World Cup round of 16.
England trailed after Brian Cipenga scored for DR Congo in the seventh minute. Goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi made several key saves to keep his side ahead until the 75th minute.
Kane equalized with a header after Anthony Gordon came on as a substitute. He added a second goal four minutes from time with a powerful right-footed strike to secure the win.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel said his team kept believing despite the difficult start. Kane, captaining England for a record-equaling 90th time, described the match as crazy and noted the need to grind out results in the knockout stage.
The victory sets up a round-of-16 match against Mexico on Sunday.
