The largest seizure of weight-loss pens at the border with Paraguay took place on Friday (10) in Foz do Iguaçu.
A Paraguayan van was intercepted at the Friendship Bridge carrying 5,850 pens and ampoules of tirzepatide and retatrutide hidden in the hood. The driver simulated opening the vehicle and fled toward Paraguay.
The substances were in inadequate conditions, near heat sources, despite requiring refrigeration. ANVISA prohibits the import of these medicines from Paraguay.
The seizure raises the yearly total to 115,647 units, an increase of 1,446.3% compared to 2025. The vehicle was seized and the pens will be destroyed.
