Square Enix has revealed new information about Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final installment in its remake trilogy. The game is set to launch in spring 2027 on multiple platforms including Switch 2.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed key features in recent interviews. Revelation will feature a true open world accessible from the start, enabled by the Highwind airship for seamless travel across the planet.
Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine join as permanent party members, each with unique combat styles. A new FITS system introduces fashion-based job customization available to all characters at once.
Minigames include an expanded Queen's Blood card battle hub at Gold Saucer and the return of snowboarding. Chadley will appear again to research massive battles against the Weapons.
Hamaguchi confirmed the original vision for the story ending remains unchanged despite fan discussions around multiverse elements.
