A floating island measuring about 100 by 10 meters has drifted in outside Roine Holmberg's property in Dådran in Rättvik municipality.
Roine Holmberg describes that the island provides better swimming temperature, more lushness and a lagoon feel.
He says people thought it was AI but they have come and seen that the island lies there. The island can be stood and walked on.
The phenomenon is called flottholmar or floating islands and often occurs in regulated lakes due to changed water levels. Fredrik Holmgren, CEO of Vattenregleringsföretagen, states that it is not entirely uncommon.
A nearby dam risks being blocked if the island drifts further, but low water levels have caused it to run aground. The company is in dialogue with the property owner and will anchor the island.
